John and Joanna’s day started nice and early for us as we were on the road at 7.30am starting or journey to Dorking. We arrived at Joanna’s family home unexpectedly 30mins ahead of time so we sat in the car enjoying a lovely cuppa made by the mother of the bride whilst we waited.
The house was reasonably calm whilst the bride, bridesmaids, and mother of the bride busied themselves getting ready.
Once hair and make-up arrived it was all go. The camera started to roll and the bucks fizz started to flow. We had a little giggle as I was taking some key accessory shots as Joanna was told by John to remove the washing line if we were to use the garden for photos, but I actually used the washing line as one of my props !!! Sorry John. The day was going to be a scorcher with temperatures well into the 80’s it was very welcomed when the father of the bride offered us a cold beer to cool down.
The bridal party arrived in a VW Beetle. The ceremony took place at Christ Church. A lovely little village church in Brockham Green, Surrey. The church was full to capacity with every pew taken. After the service it was all back out into the blazing heat to capture some shots around the church grounds. As the guest’s departed for the reception venue myself and the newly weds headed to the top of Box Hill for some stunning backdrop portrait shots.
The reception venue was held in The Tithe Barn, Burford Bridge Hotel, Dorking, where the guest’s enjoyed a very welcoming drinks reception and canapé’s. The guest’s that could tolerate the heat of the sun retreated to the garden courtyard where a few resisted the temptation to jump into the outdoor swimming pool, but instead opted to enjoy the entertainment of The Wedding Singer. The guest’s were treated to a lovely wedding breakfast before rolling into the evening where they had disco entertainment and our PhotoBooth for all to grab a prop and have some fun.
