Wedding Photographers Lumu Power Light Meter

The Lumu Power light meter is designed for the photographer that wants and needs to use a light meter, but that doesn’t want to carry around an actual light meter. Instead, they want something small that they can take with them and use whenever they want or need. Plus it only works with your iPhone. So why would you not want one?

            Lumu Power Light Meter

It all started as a Kickstarter project with the first generation working through the headphone socket. The latest Lumu has the new iPhone lightning connector. I’ve been using the Lumu Power now for the past 12 months and wouldn’t be without it, the readings are always accurate and get you where you need to be.

Were the Lightmeter comes in to play for me is at weddings, let me explain! Let us say you’re in a dimly lit Hotel and covering the groom’s speech with tungsten light above him. We can take an ambient reading for our white balance in seconds along with our exposer readings giving us perfect colour and exposure in that room.

Getting all the settings correct as a wedding photographer will mean less time editing and correcting in postproduction, thus speeding up your workflow. And this is how I use mine 90% of the time.

We all like the sound of using our flash in TTL but their occasions we need consistency, this means using manual flash. I don’t want to carry around more kit, but my phone is always with me, with a simple attachment is soon taking flash measurements and nailing the shots.

A small attachment that can fit into your pocket or bag
No need to bring your light meter around or have to replace the batteries for it
            Colour readings
            Ambient Light Readings
Flash output readings are an absolute game changer for an iPhone based Lightmeter
Fun to use just to experiment with and even to study how light of all colours affects a scene
Comes in a beautiful, small case for you to tote around

At £249 you could say that that’s expensive, but when you consider all the information that the Lumu Power can give you, then you know that that isn’t bad.
