Robert Pugh

Wedding photographer and Sony Ambassador, Robert Pugh, invites you to his own 7th annual Wedding Photography Bootcamp. Robert will be walking us through a full day of tuition around the basics of wedding photography.

Wedding Photography Bootcamp Info

The workshop takes place at the incredibly picturesque Wivenhoe House, Wivenhoe Park, Colchester on 21st Feb, Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery Castle Street, Carlisle, Cumbria, CA3 8TP on 28th. As a group, we are going to examine common and individual issues of wedding photography. With the assistance of professional models acting as the Bride and Groom, we will cover all aspects of wedding photography and the equipment you will need to create that storybook fairytale look.

In the final hour, we will end the day with individual portfolio reviews before looking at how you are currently presenting your business and where you feel the problems are. Our aim is getting you approaching your business with that energy and creativity we see in many wedding photographs today.

We are not equipment proud. All makes and models of camera equipment are welcome at the event. There will of cause be some Sony cameras and lenses available to try on the day if you so wish. This is the perfect opportunity to find out why more professional wedding photographers are using smaller mirrorless full frame cameras in their work.

Your food and drinks will be provided on the day and this is included in the price. Please advise of any dietary requirements when booking.

On the shooting session, we will cover natural light, reflective light and artificial light (SpeedLights).

So join me for lots of hands-on shooting time.

Such strong practical advice based on experience. A big thank you to the excellent models, you know who you are, and to Olympus for the professional and other resources put into making this such a worthwhile day. The venue was perfect right down to the white peacock!
As Joe said in his review: social media…? I have daringly posted a few ‘twitters’ but I am not sure why (actually to say thank you to @Olympusuk) but I am not sure why I would do it otherwise. Thank you.

This was an excellent day. Rob has a great approach to wedding photography and he shared a lot of his insight with us as well as technicalities – he’s a good trainer. The location is perfect for wedding shoots, the models were really good, relaxed and we all had a fun day as well as learning a lot. The chance to try out some new Olympus kit was a bonus. Oh, and the lunch was really good too!

Thank you Rob and the Olympus team and your wonderful patient models for a cracking day, I learnt so much, nothing was too much and any questions I asked were answered and I didn’t feel stupid asking them. Wish I’d gone on your two previous courses you ran just a really invaluable day. Many thanks again. Terri Bethell

Firstly, thank you Rob, the guys at Olympus and the wonderful models.
I attended the bootcamp, primarily as wedding photography is something I have avoided to date, but who could pass up a great day like this! A super insight into the hints and wrinkles that help dispel some of the mystery surrounding this genre of photography.
A great venue, lovely to have those extra Olympus lenses available, and models so patient who gave you time to stop and think about how to get that perfect shot straight out of camera, thus providing a little more confidence to face the undeniable pressures of wedding photography.
I knew we would fill the day with the practicals so not surprising we didn’t get half an hour with the portfolios!
An enjoyable day all round – thanks.

Easy to see why as a professional Rob has been so successful and his willingness to share that experience so fully and clearly made for a great day. Supported by some top class models and Olympus UK, we spent a lot of time hands on in small groups learning new techniques. I’ve now gone manual in white balance!
Rob has a relaxed style of presentation unlike many of the more intimidating professionals I’ve encountered. Nothing is too much trouble and you’re guaranteed to go away with something of value.
I would have no hesitation in attending another day with Rob!

A brilliant day – I went along to learn more about lighting and composition with no intention of ever being a ‘wedding photographer’ …. I’m now covering a wedding in July – I think that says it all! Thanks Rob.

A very good day. Busy with a friendly, relaxed approach. Rob and the team could not have been more helpful. It was a great opportunity to learn more, ask questions and take some great shots of the models in a nice setting at Dunston Hall. The lunch was excellent too! Thanks Rob.
