Naomi and Tom's Handfasting Ceremony
Naomi and Tom's Handfasting Ceremony. A wedding like no other and unique to the couple. There are no group photos or bride and groom portraits, just good old celebrating and enjoying the day in a relaxed, informal way with family and friends. The couple had already done the official marriage in the registry office a couple of days before and opted for a low essential wedding—the plan to have a handfasting ceremony for everyone to enjoy over drinks, food and each other.
The day was fantastic, and we couldn't wish for better weather with a rich blue sky and the sun beaming down on us all. With the couple owning a marquee company, things got simpler to organise their wedding. The couple spent most of the day putting up the marquee and arranging the area ready for the day to start. It was all set up by a lake for everyone to enjoy. There was even time before the ceremony to have a quick swim.
After the ceremony, it was drinking from the mobile bar and then into the tent for the food. The day couldn't be any more relaxed and just what the couple wanted to celebrate their day. Every wedding is different, and there is nothing in the rulebook to say you have to stick to the plan. The best weddings are the ones that brake all the rules.
Over the years, I've covered a lot of weddings, and some venues get stuck with traditions and timings. It's good to come away from that and just enjoy your wedding day as it unfolds.
